In 1990, John Greeley founded Sheila Marie Imports in Medford, Ma. SMI started as a small specialized cheese source. With the growing demand for top of the line gourmet items in New England, SMI’s inventory soon grew to include a wide variety of specialty food items such as olives, pate, and yogurts. SMI has grown into one of New England's premier specialty importers and wholesale distributors

With over 25 years of experience as a retailer, wholesaler, distributor and importer, John Greeley is recognized nationally for his knowledge of the specialty cheese business. John has served as a member of the American Cheese Society board of directors and chaired the ACS Cheese Competition for 12 years. John developed the judging criteria, expanded product category definitions and trained the judges. From 2004-2007 John was Mater Judge of the New Zealand Champion of Cheese Awards, establishing categories and training the judges. John, thru Sheila Marie Imports, has brought specialty cheese to new customers thru innovative programs – The Great Cheese of New England, Season Cheese Programs, Monthly Cheese Boards and retail staff training.
